We want to thank the almost 100 people who braved the cold, windy weather on Monday, January 27, 2014 to attend the Community Consultation meeting hosted by the City of Toronto at the film studio at 629 Eastern Avenue. Prior to the official meeting, we hosted our second Open House meeting, where members of the community had the opportunity to see our plans and ask further questions.
Many valuable comments were made and questions asked, and the City of Toronto planning staff will use this feedback as they prepare a report for Community Council.
Some of the feedback we received included suggestions on potential uses within the new development. This input is extremely valuable as it is gives us an indication of the needs of the neighbourhood, and we will give full consideration to all ideas. Some of the suggestions, unfortunately, are not achievable as they are prohibited under the Certificate of Property Use, as issued by Ontario’s Ministry of Environment, including operating a daycare or having green space. We are committed to working within the limitations placed on the site to ensure it is a development that the community will enjoy, including being creative with the open space outdoors.
We were very encouraged by the comments from the community and from the film industry. We remain committed to working with the City, the neighbourhood and the film industry as we move forward. If you would like to provide additional feedback, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
